Michelman & Robinson, LLP (“M&R”) secured a significant victory this week for client, Robert Cayton, Jr., when in addition to costs, it obtained attorneys’ fees in the amount of $1,081,500 against his former employer, USA National Title Company, Inc. (USA), in Orange County Superior Court.
Last year, led by partner Mona Hanna, M&R helped Cayton, the former executive vice president of USA, avert damages potentially totaling $264 million. USA brought 10 causes of action including that Cayton breached his contract and stole trade secrets, and accused his current employer, Lawyers Title, of courting customers, alleging $14 million in lost profits, and $250 million in lost value to the company. After a seven-week trial, a jury found against the plaintiffs on all counts.
